The son of a World War I veteran, Rudy grew up in Coyote, California.

During WWII, Rudy served in the famed Japanese-American 442nd/100 Regimental Combat Team, despite the fact that his family was interned at a camp in the Arizona desert.

In this story, Rudy remembers his unit's bold rescue of the trapped "lost battalion"...and the heartbreaking cost of their heroism.
