"It gave us an opportunity to reflect on the life of our son"

by Kenneth Estep - April 28, 2005

A testimonial from the father of Sgt. Adam Estep, lost in Iraq on April 29, 2004.

It has been two years since we lost our son, Sgt. Adam Wayne Estep, on April 29, 2004, and nearly a year since we completed our Stories of Service video.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for the privilege of working with you and the other Gold Star Families to capture a story of our Adam for history. It is a treasure to have the video that was produced during our time working with the Digital Clubhouse Network.

It gave us an opportunity to reflect on the life of our son, the child that we brought into this world, cared for, loved and nurtured to the man that Adam had become. What you help families to do is amazing. To capture and share a piece of our loved one's life, that is not only their story, but also a message to them, and to others, that is a reminder of who they were and might have become.

In the process, you are also helping today’s young adults learn how to use their minds, hearts, and today’s technology together in a positive way that brings true benefit to others. It’s good to know that there are still good people in this world that focus on community, family and helping our young adults prepare for their lives ahead. All of the DAPPer’s and staff are very supportive, patient and truly concerned about the families who are participating in this very special effort.

This week, as we celebrate Adam’s life, I want to thank you again for allowing us to participate in this history making event, for capturing a little part of the life of our Adam, and for your care and concern.

Sincerely,
Kenneth G. Estep
